Outer edge of iliac crest between anterior superior iliac spine and iliac tubercle
Insertion
Iliotibial tract on upper part of thigh. The iliotibial tract inserts at Gerdy’s tubercle in the lateral condyle of tibia.

Flexes, abducts thigh
