Origin
The inferior part of the anterior face of femur.
Insertion
On the supra-patellar part of the synovial membrane of the knee.
Actions
It elevates the capsule and the synovial membrane of the knee joint and prevents them from being pinched during extension of the leg.
Nerve
Femoral nerve (L2-L4).
Note
Not always present. Some Authors consider it part of the Quadriceps, some other consider it as a distinct muscle.
